Physical Education

Physical Education (PE) offers students the opportunity to explore the capabilities of their bodies and the variety of ways in which they are able to use their bodies to solve simple problems, tackle appropriate physical challenges, manipulate equipment or apparatus, and express themselves in a range of situations.

Students in the Early Years are exposed to a number of activities that develop gross motor skills and that may later be applied in various sports. They become aware of safe behaviour practices when engaging in physical activities, recognize the importance of fair play, cooperative behaviour and the ability to function as part of a group. We introduce them to some of the ways exercise affects their bodies. All students have a minimum of two P.E. lessons per week.

Students in some grades may participate in yoga lessons with a qualified instructor at certain times during the school year and also benefit from external sports at specialized facilities to develop skills in such areas as swimming, soccer, tennis, volleyball and athletics.
